To pick off a ski, or to reset its latch to retry a failed mounting, shove down the lever behind the boot to be parallel to the ski. This is most handily pushed with a standard, away putting the drug into the indentation.
If you come and experience shtuck righting yourself, feel off the ski on your "clay side", off yourself with the other ski and poles, and then remount the removed ski.
